Here comes the Derby!

Thunder Over Louisville makes for a crazy week! Louisville is out of
control. The derby is insane. This week was nothing less!

We exchanged Salem! I stayed here in Brookside and sister Thomas came
with me! We had so much fun. She is such an incredible missionary. She
has only been out a few months and seems as though she has been out
for 6-8 months. We enjoyed seeing some less actives and our new
investigator, Renada. We laughed a lot, worked even more and went to
bed exhausted! I also got to see sister schultz! She is one of my
favorite people! It was a good day!

Wednesday I was driving and I mentioned that I thought we had a flat.
The wheel kept going "thunk, thunk, thunk." Sister holt convinced me
that we didn't. "The car would be pulling to that side. We would feel
it." I believed her because I have never had a flat on a real tire,
only low profile tries. It proved fatal on Thursday. There is never a
dull moment on a mission in Louisville. we went to district morning in
new Albany. We drove all the way there. All the way back. All was
well. We got $1 subs from jimmy johns. Because we're regulars on
Mondays, they were really excited to see us on customer appreciation
day! It was delicious! All of our people cancelled and so the hunt was
on to find investigators. As we were hunting, we met Jason. He is
awesome. Very humble and kind. As we drove away from his house, our
car sounded horrible. I looked at sister holt and said "we have a flat
tire!" She didn't believe me! So I get out of the car, walk around to
the drivers side and sure enough, our tire is flat. Not only flat, but
off the rim... We were riding the rim. It was bad. And so as we start
to figure out what to do, sister holt goes to the back to get the
tire, I call AAA and then our sweet friend Jason comes over and helps
us change our tire. While he changed it we taught him the restoration.
It was a huge blessing! It was pouring rain too. We were soaked, but
our tire was fixed. Blessings from the Lord!

Thunder over Louisville. Craziest show ever. Thunder was just amazing.
Incredible. Wonderful. The hype was real. Sister Weathers and Eugene
from Corbin took us! It was a thrill. We ran into the thorns there,
got a killer spot to watch the show and waited. The show was just
phenomenal. The thrill was real. Our bodies shook to the core.
Literally my whole body vibrated as the finale blew off. The coolest
thing I have experienced my whole mission. It was so crazy because I
felt like a regular person. Jammin to the music and enjoying the
people. Kinda crazy. The fireworks were legit. On our way out, we ran
into some crazy people. A guy on drugs telling us some" black guys
were gonna beat us up." And then another guy stopped us in front of
the police station because his drunk friend was peeing on the wall.
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ what? Yeah that happened. It was interesting. Welcome to good old
Louisville.

Sunday at church was awesome. The speakers were perfect and I totally
needed it. This man walked in with his wife. He served here 13'years
ago. During relief society, his wife came over and handed me some
money. She said "this is for you and your companion. My husband said
that it was a hard Ward when he was here and sometimes went without
food, please get some on us." Wow. The kindness of these strangers was
so incredible. I am so grateful for people like that! We worked and
worked all day and ended up at a fireside in downtown to finish the
week off.
Some insights from church:

- Eve, mother of all living, was given her name before she was a
mortal mother. Motherhood is more than babies.
- A mother is not a friend. A mother is a mother because she has been
placed here to teach wrong from right. When the child calls to say
"thank you for teaching me..." That is when the mother become a
friend.

All is rockin in southern Louisville!
So much love from the GKLM!

Wednesday: I'm driving. It sounds like we have a flat. "Sister holt.
It sounds like we have a flat. I think we have a flat." Sister holt/
"nah we're fine. The car would be pulling to one side."

Thursday: we drive to new Albany, Indiana. We drive home. We drive to
an appointment and as we are leaving we hear metal scraping the
ground. "Sister holt, we have a flat tire." So I get out and look.

If you blink, you'll miss it.

Another week flies by! This week was one for the books. We had a great
week! On Monday we stopped to talk to a guy and he almost crashed his
bike stopping. O felt so bad! He was interested and we are going to
teach him this week! We found a lot of cool people as well! The hunt
for prepared people is always so fun. It is hard sifting through
everyone else though, especially the dropping part. When you see
someone with so much potential but they don't keep any commitments, it
is hard to let them go!

I went on exchanges this week with sister Windley from Charlestown,
in! She is such an incredible sister and I don't think we had one dull
moment. My stomach was sore from laughing the whole exchange. She is
an incredibly hard worker and I love her So much!

We had a few awesome lessons this Week! Brother Nearn and Brother
Meredith are progressing well right now! They are loving the gospel
and embracing it! The spirit is really working on them too! Before we
taught them the word of wisdom, they had already begun to give up the
substances they were addicted too. They also are figuring out their
personal lives so that they can be baptized! They came to church and
loved it! They are so awesome! We also taught brother Chad. He is
just awesome. So humble and so kind. He wants to do the best that he
can. We shared with him the word of wisdom and he is trying so very
hard to give it up. Please pray for him to receive strength! Chad is
preparing to be Baptized!

We were blessed with some awesome new investigators this week. Brother
Washington was a man we stopped on his bike. He didn't believe us that
we have a prophet on the earth today! We taught him a quick 5 minute
restoration and he was hooked! He is excited to get baptized also! We
then were referred to sister rose. She is going through a lot in her
life at this moment, but she knows that this could be the change she
needs! As we testified of gods love for her, she felt the spirit and
is also excited to be baptized!

I love this work so much! I wish I could remember more from this week,
but I forgot to journal... My bad!
The church is true, the book is blue!
So much love,
Sister hannah

RE: "If the water is grey, you know where it came from."

And before I knew it, it was p-day again. Time seems to fly by these days!

This week felt like we had no time to proselyte. But we still managed
to over achieve our goals. Heavenly Father truly blessed us as we went
to work! We had MLC, mission leadership council, with the Brough's on
Tuesday. Wednesday followed with another all day meeting, zone
conference, in New Albany, IN. In the 6 proselyting hours that we had
in those two days, we found 4 new investigators, taught 7 lessons and
hit our talk with everyone goal. It felt amazing. So great. Missionary
work is invigorating.

I went on exchange in Hanover, Indiana with sister Borgardous! It was
cold. Freezing cold. Seasons don't really click in sister Hannah's
head. California born and raised problems. I may have sent all my
winter stuff home prematurely. But it is ok. I survived. Ok, it really
wasn't that cold, high 30's, I had a pair of tights, but it was windy
and the Hanover sisters only walk in Hanover... So that made it
freezing. Sister Bogardous is a really good missionary! She is fresh
out of training and wants to work Hard! We had a good time! It is
always so refreshing to get my companion back after exchanges though.
You never know what you have until it is gone. But really. I am so
grateful for sister holt and her level of consecration. She is such a
blessing for me!

After Zone Conference, sister Holt, Beecroft, Bogardous and I ate at
this cute Mexican restaurant. Blew me away, so good! The chef was
actually from Mexico. He had talked to missionaries before too! Our
server, John, was a character. Sister Holt talked him into giving us
free chips and salsa. (Ok, well first of all, what Mexican restaurant
doesn't give you chips and salsa?) We also had him running to the
river to get us more water. We drained his supply real quick.
Missionary problems. He was hilarious, it was a great time. He kept
telling us "If the water is grey, you know where it came from." And
"if it takes me a minute to refill your glass, it is because I had to
run to the river to get more!"

At Zone conference we were trained specifically on getting our
investigators to church. Church is a critical key indicator because
you can't know if this is the true church if you don't come! We
applied the training in our teaching this week and saw the Results! We
taught a lot of cool people this week and they all came to church!
Sister Robinson, my favorite bohemian, came to church! She loved it.
It was just what she needed. Our friend, Brother Chad, also came to
church! He was really apprehensive to come, but he overcame his fears
and is repenting. We taught him specifically about repentance and how
it (repentance) is changing your thoughts, beliefs and behaviors to
align your will with God. He is working so hard to change. He is just
Incredible! We also taught brother Meredith and brother Nearn. They
were a miracle. We found brother Nearn at the gas station and when we
went to teach him, his brother joined us. When we went back a second
time, they both wanted to be baptized! Brother Nearn couldn't come to
church and brother Meredith was concerned that his fiancΓ© would be
jealous of we texted him and invited him to church. We had a plan and
executed it. He came! And he brought his fiancΓ© and we were able to
meet her and help her see we are just missionaries! No threat here!
Haha! She was so kind. Our Ward was so welcoming. It was Ward
conference so the stake leaders were there. It was an extremely
powerful meeting. The spirit testified strongly of the importance of
the sacrament and sabbath day worship. Sunday's are wonderful! :)

This week my testimony of the plan of salvation was strengthened so
much. As I learned of my uncle's passing, I was overcome with a
feeling of comfort and peace. He was warmly welcomed into the spirit
world by all those whom he loved, grandpa hannah and uncle Jeff
especially. I know that he is being taught the gospel. I know that God
is all knowing and loving and merciful. Jesus Christ knows everything
that we experience and exactly how to help us through it. The
atonement is there, it is real, it is accessible. The Plan of
Salvation is a plan of happiness and joy. I can and will see all of my
family again as I live righteously and strive my best to a faithful
servant of the Lord!

This is the work of salvation. This is His work. I am so grateful to
be apart of this marvelous work and wonder! There is no greater joy in
all the world that seeing people come closer to Jesus Christ! The
gospel has been restored!

I love you all!

Welcome to Louavul!

This week was wild and crazy, up and down, whirlwind.
It started at the sisters conference! All of the GKLM sisters gathered
and we were spiritually fed and uplifted. We were trained on patience,
faith, prayers, knowledge and sister holt and I trained on obedience.
It was a wonderful day of learning and catching up with all of my
favorite sisters! It was so awesome to run into haley Brennan, from
the Santa margarita stake! I also saw all of my favorite companions!
Sister Resendez, schultz, jones and Starkey! I love these girls with
all my heart!

I was able to go on exchange with sweet sister johns this week too! I
went to Shepherdsville. It is just what I am used to. Smaller town
vibe, country side. I love Kentucky. Sister johns is an incredible
consecrated servant of the Lord! We had a blast as we hit the pavement
running! It was a nice change of pace from Louisville. I am beginning
to love this city a lot though. Sister johns and I were able to see a
wonderful Miracle on exchange too! We were out tracting and stopped to
talk to a guy. We ended up teaching him the message of the restoration
in his driveway. He accepted a baptismal date and said he would come
to church! He was so prepared! I look forward to seeing how he
progresses!

We had a miracle referral this week from the new Albany zone leaders.
A woman stopped them outside the library and invited them over for
dinner, but she is in our area. We called her, played phone tag, and
set up a time. When we arrived to sister Robisons house she had a
completely organic and natural meal for us and the first thing out of
her mouth was "sisters, I want to go the celestial kingdom." She had
previous contact with missionaries in the 90's and an elder told her
she was going telestial. She proceeded to watch all four sessions of
conference and wouldn't accept a baptismal date until she prayed. I am
so excited for her, she seems very promising!

General conference ended our week. It was beautiful. I love hearing
the prophet and apostles speak to us. I learned a lot about my true
identity as a child of God and how much love God has for all of His
children. We truly are his children! We were able to have sister
Hutcherson (a recent convert) and her daughter, Heather, watch it with
us at sister Pearce's home. After, Heather was asking all about
temples and what they are and why we have them. Sister Pearce bore
powerful testimony and Heather was hooked. All she wants is to be able
to go inside. The temple motivates people to be worthy and love a good
life. I know that as we all strive to be temple worthy, the Lord will
pour out blessings upon us!

To top off this week, we had a return appointment with a guy and he
wasn't there at first. While we were talking to everyone in his
complex, he showed up. So we go over to teach him and his fiancé is
there and she joins us and then two random people just walk up and
start to listen.

I love this crazy field of work! There is never a dull moment. I love
this gospel, I know it is true with all of my heart. Jesus Christ is
the cornerstone. He is our rock and foundation.

Much love,
Sister Hannah
